Words in the Drawing: “I drew this fruit raw on one side, ripened on the other. The banana is ripe enough, and the “langsat” is ripe too.  The visitors gave most of these fruits to us.  However, my favourite fruit is still the king of fruits, which is the durian. ”

Title: Little House

Title (Original Language): 屋仔

Year: 2017

Words in the Drawing: “This is the little house I used to live in; its house number is 154. I lived alone in that house and cooked for myself. I lived there for more than five years.  I also planted little red flowers in the front of the house. There is a rambutan tree beside the house too, but I drew a coconut tree on this drawing instead. ”

Title: Bottle Gourd

Title (Original Language): 葫芦

Year: 2017

Words in the Drawing: “When we, the Chinese, pray to the God of Heaven, we would offer the bottle gourd. It is believed that demons can be kept in it.  Amongst the Eight Immortals, Tie Guai Li uses it to house demons.  A monk named, Ji Gong, also uses a bottle gourd, but he used it to store wine instead. He also likes to eat dog meat as well.”

Title: Love

Title (Original Language):

Year: 2017

Words in the Drawing: “This is a heart-shaped pendant with the word, “LOVE”, on it.  I have a close female friend.  She and I have spent a week in Japan before. We have also been to Thailand and Penang as well.  She visits me in the ward daily, brings my leftover home as food for the dogs, so I get to see her everyday.  I hope that she is happy and that we would remain good friends forever.”
